The BLACK LEGION Cover Reveal (and Selfie Contest #2!)
Here it is, at long last (so please stop asking me to finish the Goddamn book, you heathens): the cover reveal for BLACK LEGION, out this August.
I think this cover conveys the most substantive, emotional quality yet, capturing the haunting and soulful aura of the artist’s intent, really brought to the fore through advanced techniques like how bits of the fire are still white – which at first can look like it was taking ages to use the filling tool in MS Paint, but is actually because of cool art reasons that normal, stupid people can’t understand.
There’ll be two alternate covers available in the unlikely event my publisher chooses not to use mine, one for the Ltd. Edition, one for the normal edition, seen here:
Some of you may remember the Selfie Contest from a few years ago(with its resultant heroic winners) – and yes, there will indeed be another one for the Ltd. Edition of BLACK LEGION, with prizes just as fucking fabulous as last time.
Just as before, I’ll announce the prizes on Twitter, but if you recall last time they were pretty special and not at all a waste of yours, mine, and everyone else’s time.
I have been waiting for this since I finished the last page of Talon of Horus. I even made a special trip out when I was on business to GW HQ to ask when the next book was coming out. I can’t wait for this one.
Oh. Um. NOW I FEEL BAD FOR TAKING SO LONG. I HATE YOU.
(Also, thanks, dude!)
Absolutely awesome. You know from the get go, starting with extracts from the mighty Talon Of Horus, I have allowed myself to remain open minded and be taken on a journey of the best quality, high end but gritty Sci-Fy. As Talon unfolded as a story, I was completely enraptured and left in awe at what you had done with the characters, their journey and interactions. How you tackled such a legendry topic not only shows your sublime skills as a writer, but the sheer bloody hard work and research that went into the novel. Furthermore I don’t feel I have ever read or heard of a better explanation of the environment that this novel was set in. It truly was a different class. This series is shaping up to be the best ever produced by Black Library, and ranks up their with the best of all time in my personal opinion.
I genuinely cannot wait for Black Legion!.
Such is its quality, and even though money is short and times are hard, I will be getting Black Legion in it’s Limited Edition form.
Cheers pal, for all the good times
Bigg
Exactly this. Different class. Never purchased a limited edition novel from BL but will be making an exception here. Been anticipating this book since, pretty much the moment I finished reading the final page of Talon. Excitement level critical!!
Hmm, yes, lots of artistic talent here. But, as amazing an artist as you are, I do recall something about a certain archmage whose adventures don’t really seem to have finished yet.
…I… I’ve failed you all…
I love those Corinthian Khornate helmets. I made an entire warband (100s) of them.
They’re sextabulous, and the bestest ones, for sure.
Good to hear it is coming along. Both covers look good, you can really see the effort coming through.
I only recently started doing a new Khayon model myself so good timing.
I love how both the old Bezerkers and the new Rubricae are represented here! Loving it! My only “complaint” would be that the art-direction is quite different from “Talon of Horus” (which had a great cover too but in a different way).
I’m not so sure how its different – seems to be the same style of painting to me. How do you see it as different?
Hello there, I recently bought Talon of Horus and I too feel the difference in the covers. It is not only about background. I think there is slight difference in art style too and it annoys me a bit.
