  2. Aww yes! A HH-novel by you has been long awaited for 3 years now. Can’t wait to get my hands on this. Judging from the cover, I wouldn’t be surprised if I would start an Terra-based army because of you!

  3. Just made a kinda crap day a little better (would be a lot better if I could get it now ;))

I’ve waited with baited breath since the announcement of this novel. As with your other works I’m looking forward to a new take on what we thought we already knew ala my understanding of the warp after reading the talon of Horus.

ADB, you are by far my favourite BL author and I can’t wait to get my hands on your latest work

  5. I was interested in this, didnt know you wrote it, even more interested now. Will have to pick it up after I finish the first heretic. Betrayer is the favorite, thought I should go back to where it started.

  8. Read it. Very well written – but holy crap, is it ever depressing.

Haven’t felt so ambivalent about a Horus Heresy book since “A Thousand Sons”. :-/

(And, yes, I did notice the call-forwards to a certain Menacing Manbun…)

  9. Just finished this up and wanted to say thank you so much. In a lot of ways this has given me a new excitement for 30/40k which had drained away over the last decade or so. Combined with the game side of the company upping their game in the last year or so, I’m genuinely looking forward to what’s in store.

Master of Mankind is just a fantastic way of setting the scene for that and in general a wonderfully balanced piece of work. The afterword was very helpful in putting it into place and context.

I’ve been spending a lot of time working to hold various powerful figures in my community accountable for some pretty questionable actions of late, fighting some heavy battles with real-world considerations of ethics and morality. To settle into the fervid, larger than life philosophical drama you paint on the surface of the warhammer setting has been incredibly helpful in giving me both a space to step back and breathe and a space to regain perspective. Thank you.
