  2. Imperium is spelled wrong. So is Kharn.

    Comment by Larkyn | June 4, 2012 | Reply

    • I don’t put the accent in, as it’s quicker to do that in editing. Word just doesn’t recognise Imperium; it’s not spelled wrong.

      • This ridiculous discussion thread aside, word not recognizing 40K terminology drives me crazy, so I always just add the phrases to the word dictionary. Just curious if you’d considered that, and if so why don’t you? Afraid of it confusing a real error as a 40K’ism?

        Comment by Schevus | June 4, 2012 | Reply

      • Schevus, just a habit. It used to drive me crazy too, but on my new computer I never got around to adding them, and I’m just sort of used to it now.

I loathe WordPress’s inability to reply to the third comment in a thread. Grrr.

      • Be grateful you aren’t writing anything too Lovecraftian. There’s the apocryphal story that Chaosium crashed their server running a spell check…

      • Clearly I was joking. But that aside, I can’t wait for this!

        Comment by Larkyn | June 4, 2012 | Reply

      • Can’t you just right click on a word and add it to your dictionary though?

        Comment by deraj | June 4, 2012 | Reply

    • Actually, you could set up word so that every time you typed in “Kharn”, it would automatically replace it with your preferred word, complete with the correct “carot”.

  7. There are some very interesting chapters of the Horus Heresy coming up, all incredibly promising. Fear to Tread, Angel Exterminatus, The Betrayer, Shadows of Treachery. The Age of Darkness is a treasure trove indeed.

  9. R we going to see the betrayer prologue soon as promised? (bambi eyes)

    Comment by VDOG | June 4, 2012 | Reply

    • Soon. It got delayed by the original prologue I was doing being completely trashed when I decided I hated the idea, and a new one getting done instead.

      Comment by Aaron Dembski-Bowden | June 4, 2012 | Reply

      • ah right, cool with that mate cool with that… and out of interest do you know ruffly when betrayer’ll be hitting the shelves? (taking into account many violated deadlines of course… 🙂

  10. Can someone tell me why the imperial double headed eagle has what appears to be one head with eyes open (or eyes) and the other with no eyes (or eyes not visible/closed ) like here : http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NGSZ8bIrgkY/TalfemyhwzI/AAAAAAAAACM/spKeaLNdp1c/s1600/Imperial_eagle.jpg

  11. I figured it was something along those lines, you have an official quote somewhere…I wonder if they realised how horribly inappropriate that meaning is…poor Imperium.

  12. Oh frakking badass. 😀 This what I love about your work, now you have managed to link together the short story in Tales of heresy, together with Prospero Burns/A Thousan Sons. I’m becoming scared of how long in advance you guys plans this shit.

Looking forward to the prologue and eventual future novel. 😀

  13. That’s incredible. It cuts right into the lore in a way I had never considered before. By the way, I loved the voice acting for Kharn in “The Butchers Nails”. That guy was incredible. Can’t wait for “Betrayer”!

  16. I am just excited that the World Eaters & Angron are getting a proper go of things. I have always thought there was a great story there to be told.

  17. ADB you magnificent bastard – awesome your sticking that into the book.

Kudos on Butcher’s Nails as well, definitely has me looking forward to Betrayer a great deal.

  18. Butchers Nails has given fans a taste of something akin to a bloodied mouth with the dark and brutal mind of Angron. I can’t wait to be able to dive deeper into this abyss of blood and anger! They allow me to dream…

  19. I have to say, don’t worry about not meeting your fan’s expectations, because to be perfectly honest they’ll always be surpassed.

Hell, reading this makes me want to buy a Kharn model.

  20. Kharn forgot about Geri and Freki.

    Comment by TheSGC | June 5, 2012 | Reply

    • Not that they’re worth remembering.

Comment by Khestra the Unbeheld | June 5, 2012 | Reply

      • Still proves the point.

        Comment by TheSGC | June 6, 2012 | Reply

  21. Nice to finally see that quote appear in official material, it’s awesome. Kharn does have a point (or three), even if he forgot how it exactly came about that his Legion was renamed. Yeah, I’m pedantic, I know. *wink*

    • But, ah ha! It might just be that the reasons aren’t as simple as we’ve heard.

      • Definitely intriguing.

  25. I always felt that the whole servitude angle was woefully underdeveloped in the fluff up until now. After all that happened to Angron as a slave, it always seemed clear to me that he wouldn’t think much of unquestioning obedience — especially not to the Emperor.

Thanks for exploring that angle, ADB. It’s great to see that somebody does more with the legion than the usual “always angry all the time” shtick!

    Comment by krautscientist | June 5, 2012 | Reply

    • “Always angry all the time” belongs to the Angry Marines, not these traitors.

      Comment by KieranCM | June 6, 2012 | Reply

      • Indeed. All the more reason to come up with something more nuanced for the World Eaters 😉

        Comment by krautscientist | June 6, 2012 | Reply

  26. Awesome. I remember you telling me this, though not in Kharn POV, on the BL bolthole when I asked you about the World Eaters and the Wolves being similar in their outside appearances.
