Aaron Dembski-Bowden

Don't worry. None of this blood is mine.

Nothing Says “You’re having a baby girl…”

…like your mum sending you a huge box of baby clothes that she’s been buying, in preparation for grandmotherhood.

Booties! Pink baby booties!

Jesus, this is all getting a bit scary.

I mean, it’s funny, I can’t stop smiling most of the time. But it’s also scary. Once, I forgot to eat for over 24 hours. That bodes ill for parenthood.

But look at the booties!

What I like best is that it shows I’ve not trimmed my facial hair in over a month. Wait. How long? I think it’s only 2 weeks, now I think about it. Feels like longer. Whatever.

Tidy.

This was actually the second photo I took. The first one was ruined, because I heard our cat Loken meowing in that weird, wailing way that sounds like a FUCKING BANSHEE OUTSIDE HOWLING MY NAME.

“Aaaaaaaron… Aaaaararararararrrrrron…”

For the record, here’s the first one.

  1. In all honesty the second photo looks like you’ve stolen the boots and are awaiting the wrath of the wife. 🙂

    • He totally did this while I was at work, so I did not notice the Booties missing from their box. They are Ugg’s too. you non-fashion-aware husband. At least your Mummy is on the ball. Also I hate when Lokie makes that sound too. It’s worse at night.

  2. The second (chronologically, first) photo looks like an album cover for the weirdest DJ ever.

  3. Aaron: are you an accidental Movember participant?

  4. I’m intrigued by the poster on the wall behind you. It wouldn’t be a 40K map of some kind, would it?

    • In this photo:

      Me.
      Some baby booties.
      A wardrobe (newly made).
3 Forge World posters (the one you’re referring to is a map of the Badab Sector).
2 original Ron Spencer Werewolf: the Apocalypse art pieces.
      Some unpainted Word Bearers.

  8. Yay booties! :3 Jake the Dog would be jealous of such stylish booties. Pretty cool, though. As stuff like that comes in does it feel like a clock counting down to B-Day?

  9. Those booties are the cutes. ^_^

My cat does that weird miaow too, only it sounds like she’s saying ‘Ralph’. THERE IS NO RALPH, MITTENS.

  11. Hey Aaron. Congratulations on the baby and such, you’ll be great. 🙂

In other news, how do I find posts from older than the links down the side? I want to show my friends the ‘Reasons I Hate Star Trek’ posts in an attempt to get them to giggle themselves to death, and I have no idea how to find those posts.

    Thanks. 🙂

    • You make a persuasive and painful point. I’ve only recently started tagging posts, because in my infinitely shuttered outlook, I tend to forget people ever read anything here.

I’m going back and tagging them (slowly) to make them searchable. I’m going to try to finish it this weekend.

  12. That second picture looks awesome. I’ve relatively recently taken up drawing, so I had to sketch that one. Doesn’t quite look like you…

At any rate, many congratumalations to you and Katie. Awesome babies are awesome!

  13. First Congratulations!

Second, I’m amazed at the detail you got into those boots. Your highlighting technique and the shading is great. Are we going to see a 12″ scale Emperor’s Children marine fully painted up at the end of it? 😉

    Thirdly, many more congratulations!

  14. Wow, shit’s real now for you, eh? I remember my first pair of reduced-scale boots…

I’ve multiplied three times now, so it’s always good to see people go through the process for the first time. It really brings back fond memories.

Just make sure you pack your video games and paints away very carefully into storage. You are allowed to bring them back out again when she is about 6 years old. You may want to consider researching Disney Princess minis for the next little while.
